Our Center takes a whole-child approach to education. Teachers and parents work together to meet the intellectual, social, behavioral, and emotional needs of each and every child we serve. We use the natural curiosity of children to teach math, reading, and critical thinking skills. We allow and promote our students to be creative and find the natural talents God has placed in them.
Fisherman's Net Learning Center is a ministry of Norfolk Apostolic Church. We believe that all children deserve to grow and learn in a loving Christian environment. We strive to teach Christian Character to our students by living as an example for them. We believe GOD is first and that having a relationship with Him is most important. Every morning we begin our day with prayer, worship, and a Bible lesson.
Academically, we use A BEKA as our main curriculum. We allow children to use their creativity and have hands-on learning experiences. We strongly promote literacy and read to the children everyday. Every child is involved in stimulating activities everyday. And of course, we make sure they have fun!
All of our teachers, staff and volunteers pass a rigorous screening and background check. All staff members are CPR/First Aid certified. Due to the nature of our organization, we choose the licensing status of Religious Exempt. We are, however; regulated by the local and state levels of the Department of Social Services.
We encourage you to come by for a tour of our center!
The staff at Fisherman's Net Learning Center are united in the belief that all children:
*Have the power to learn
*Are curious & creative
No two students have exactly the same skills or learning style. That’s why we create an individual learning plan for every child. Your plan will combine direct instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one tutoring in a way that works for your student.
Our summer program is always a lot of fun. Each summer we switch gears to more of a themed vacation Bible school setting. Our themes are always fun and exciting. We try to decorate and include engaging activities. This helps the children feel that they are a part of the overall theme. Students learn about God's Word in interactive ways, they have daily worship and prayer time, a review time to keep school skills sharpened, outside/gym time, field trips and much more!
